From Bombay to Bellingham

Longtime Bellingham resident and Squalicum High School History teacher Gabe Mayers was born into the Bene Israel Jewish community in Bombay, India.

Join us at South Whatcom Library as he will discuss various theories regarding how the Bene Israel Jews arrived in India, talk about their relationship with the Baghdadi Jews, and share personal memories from his childhood in Bombay.
Finally, he will recall his family’s experiences as they moved from India and became new immigrants in Israel. His talk will include a PowerPoint presentation and there will be time for questions afterwards.
